user posted image finally on the car, my buddy is fabbing up a linkage and i should have some video of the car running within a week. I wont be using this manifold as it gives no clearance with the surge tank. As you can see it has less than an inch between the inlet pipe and strut tower. Luckily i have a mikuni short runner manifold so this guy will be going soon.

Estimates on how much it'll be pushing HP/Torque wise yet?

I'll be using the stock T3 turbo for now,but My guestimate is i should be running around 10 psi on the stocker(as its basically at it's limit) and should be at the 250bhp mark, we shall see, not too sure as most people ive talked to with blow throughs ran bigger size units. once it's dialed in and running right its getting a nice HX35 from a turbo diesel =).

Finally got these bad boys installed and tuned!! my Roomate rocks when it comes to sidedrafts. car idles like a dream and pulls like a banshee.
This endeavor was a pita and a big headache but I'm happy! the linkage was a nightmare, but after much thought, reading, fabricating, waiting for parts it's all in and I don't have that "buyers Remorse" lol. The su's are gone and are awaiting a new home on a 3.0 L series. the Mikuni/Sk combo is awesome and will give me plenty of room to mount the surge tank! up next is the the edis and mega jolt install. a few more things to sort out with the carbs like the fuel banjos but I love these damn things.

StraightAwayZ the current motor is an L28 n42 AKA the test mule
the motor that will be going in is a standard no modified 83 280zx turbo block/head that is getting refreshed for use. once I know what the heck i'm doing the motor will go through a complete rebuild for more powwa!!!!!!!! lol.

You freaking tease! You got the thing running and didn't take any video!? Come on, man, that's not friggin' cool! I'm gonna be honest here... you're probably the only person I've ever seen who actually approached the whole blowthrough turbo L-series thing the right way, managed to get the parts, and actually got the thing running in the modern era. Everyone else I see either has no clue what they're doing or doesn't even know where to begin and are only 'planning' it because it was something they heard about in Wangan Midnight.

So as the only person I know who's successfully rocking a setup like this... VIDEO, MAN! DETAILS! I'M DYIN' HERE! w00t2.gif

I saw that too, I still have my box lol.
new bits though, came across an sk intake manifold so now they match the carbs, a pair of integra seats and a couple of more odd's and ends. projects not dead, just been put on hold, still trying to figure out stuff, as much as I thought i Knew I realized I didn't know anything lol. better safe than a blown motor. stay tuned folks its coming together.

When you finish this project- we should totally follow up with a Wangan Midnight reunion in 2015 for the 25 year anniversary of the Wangan Midnight Manga. The Initial D guys had their meet. I think we can do as well. We just need a black Porsche 964...

That's the way to do it! The car in my avatar/signature is something I fully intend to do in real life--I started it with the last 240Z I had. It's based on the Kanagawa police 240ZG pursuit car, but I'm not a fan of the ZG so I'm putting my own spin on the design.

Totally cool to add your own touch to things. wink2.gif Especially when you're doing something with that engine so few people these days do.

Yeah, I want a clean engine bay, for aesthetics but mostly for ease of maintenance. Found the solution to my surge tank/ fuel pump set up too

http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server800/aecb...4.1280.1280.jpg easy peasy, now just need money lol.

What happens if you got something thats not broken? You don't fix it. What if its not broken, but its not right? You take a saw too it and make it right. I was having trouble figuring out what to do with the intake portion of the surge box. The type 1 box was designed like the stock zx turbo, no intercooler, the stage 2 was designed with intercooling in mind. So what to do? Easy do some cutting and get a coupler.

Now just waiting on the coupler.
Speaking of coupler!!!

Probem solved!!

New wiring projects are done and ready to rock just need new ignition wires.
I rerouted my coil to the passenger side to make room for the intercooler and clean up some clutter along with rewiring my headlight relay and harness for h4 light upgrade.

The other project was the 240z/280x tach hybrid so i could run it straight to my msd tach output. It was rather straight forward. Once i get my new spark plug wires i'll find out how well it works lol.

user posted image 240z loop back harness in place of 280z harness
user posted image installed with proper redline and connected directly to the msd box.

But isn't the defibralater on the other side? Where's the primary wiring between them going?

Basically i took all the wiring from the driverside and transferred it over. The original wiring was integrated with the harness leading to the lights. The car had the msd 6al with a 280zx dizzy wired in before i picked it up halfass'd btw. Just followed some wires and ran all new ones. All soldered up and ready to get loomed.

You'll have to excuse me, I still don't get where the wiring (both trigger and primary coil) for the distributor is actually going. Surely you're not running the primary coil wire through the headlights!

Nope not at all. user posted image the matchbox wires were extended and meet up with the wiring to the msd in the fender portion. the long wire going towards the opening in the fender is the matchbox wire. Its basically like this.
