Figured I'd post about it here, even though I haven't given you guys much info about my Z. My mechanic was bringing it back to his shop today from the exhaust shop to do the tune up and dyno on my new Rebello built engine, and a lady in an SUV ran a red light and totaled my baby.

The good news is that nobody was hurt, there's a police report, and her insurance is covering EVERYTHING, and the engine survived, so atleast the heart of the beast that I spent way too much money on is going to find a new home. No pictures right now, but I'll post them up when I get them tomorrow.

Man what the f**k is it with women in SUVs hitting these cars!? My 240Z got hit twice and both times it was some dumb woman in an SUV not paying any f**king attention.

There should be an extra, more rigorous driving test required to license anyone to drive an SUV. Because straight-up making it only female would be sexist or something, but the point is, women don't belong anywhere near an SUV. In my personal experience they just cause damage.

And it's not like they're safer, either! It's just ridiculous. Sorry for your loss but glad that insurance is fully covering the accident. So hopefully you'll find yourself another even better Z body and drop that delicious motor into it. This doesn't have to be a bad thing!

I mean hell, the two ladies who hit my 240Z paid for all the body work I was going to have done anyway. whistling.gif

Uncanny. There was a yellow 240Z that got partly run over by a semi that the mechanic at Sunrise Z was driving to the paint place just a few months ago. There's something in the air man... fear2.gif

At least you have the engine.

Why not go the Devil Z route and bring her back from her coma? Would the insurance money be enough for that?

Because contrary to what the anime/manga would have you believe, once the body/frame is out of true, you're basically never going to get it to go right anymore.

I've got a '78 shell that I might swap parts into, I just need to figure a way to make a Rebello L30 pass smog first....

Though, TBH, depending on how much insurance pays out, I *might* be ditching the Z path for awhile and instead build a factory five Daytona replica.....

I know how it works, it was simply the lack of details that gave me hope it'd be salvageable.

Man, what a way to go for such a Z. Not being sexist, but what's up with women and their SUVs these days? RIP to your Z.

Then again, you still have the engine. You still have that '78 shell to inherit the power... Good luck with your rebuilding, man.

You can't really tell in the last picture, but that tower is all kinds of bulged out from when the suspension tried to escape towards the engine.

That sucks man, im sorry to hear that...
I got my old legacy totaled by a kid in a Tahoe, SUV's can cause alot of damages...
Its good the the engine and everyone is safe...
These kind of idiots are the main reason i fitted metal bumpers, as people in Saudi tend to fully brake when they see a car accident 2km Away and decide to tweet and stare at it mad.gif ...
Stay safe man, and im sorry about ur loss ..

Yep, that would be a total loss right there. That body'll never be the same.

Let us know when you've jumped into a new one!

That's the good news of this whole thing, we're going to be looking for a car that's MINT interior and exterior with a bad/stock/whatever engine.

The other good news is that my mechanic is THE guy for old nissans/datsuns/Zs specifically. He has customers driving in from Wisconsin to have him do work on their stuff. I know he'll help me get as much as possible out of the insurance company, and help me track down a new car. The Z forums and a bunch of my Z bros in other states have been really helpful as well.

We'll find a new car, we'll make it better, we have the technology.

I wonder even how much Devil Z's costs in Australia these days, considering we have this bullshit carbon tax and some anti-old-car-laws...

I wouldn't mind getting/salvage one and get my dad and his tuning mechanical friends and help me build a z... for general use..

Lol.

But that means no mt for me, doing my L's. saving up money...
Probs $5-6k if i save a shit load and mt about 10 games.. a month. lol

sorry to hear about your Z man,

either that or i go for an 86/SkylineR32 or Hakosuka..
